No man can outlive the sins of his past… On a cold October evening in 1987 parallel lives once separate come crashing together. One body, two skulls, and the flaming ruins of a house bring Christy Lawless Shaughn and his employer vampire hunter Mr. V to Rottingdean. The mystery is only the beginning as bodies begin to pile up and more fires light up the night time sky. And what does this all have to do with Mr. V’s step-son David Beste at the centre of these mysterious incidents? After a fatal night at the disco Exit to Heaven, Christy finds himself facing the reality that his life may never be the same again. Francis Tenn’s love life once again causes heartbreak and jealousy. Jemmy, Francis’s younger lover, is on the outs perhaps for good this time. When Francis’s old friend and former lover Simon Thorsby comes to him for help, there is a chance to renew their relationship. Meanwhile from the shadows his every move is being watched. Is it Simon’s then lover, or perhaps his mother’s now ex-boyfriend looking for retaliation, or could it be a new mystery man setting his sights on Francis to be his next conquest? Victims or villains? Malachy Thorsby and Kitto Surrat are in very deep trouble. Once human, both are vampires discovering the terrible truths of their new lives. Lost, betrayed, and forgotten, the two have no one they can rely on. They have no friends, merely familiar predators at every turn. Must they learn to trust Mr. V and Maxmillian Fairmount-Kensington III, vampire hunters of all people to protect them or have they tricked the old men into setting them free? Evil happens when good men fail to act… FOR MATURE READERS ONLY. Also included with the novel is a glossary of slang and colloquialisms at the back.
Night Boys No Saints in We All Feel Better in The Dark Kings Cross Trilogy Christopher J Crisp Aubrey Diamant 9781495236372 Books
Picked this up shortly after release day and settled in. Two nights in a row I found myself so engrossed that I didn't get to sleep til near 4am! The book begins with one of the spiciest prologues I've ever read! It sets the foundation for the relationships that flow through the book. Like the other two Night Boys books more puzzle pieces fall into place and at least one mystery is solved about the pasts of the characters. The pieces fell together in my head about a third of the way through and by halfway I was jumping up and down in delight that my suspicions were correct. This was an emotional roller coaster for this reader and the characters. So many subplots come along that in a few cases, I forgot about them until they popped back in.As always, Diamant does a wonderful job making the characters believable and creates the atmosphere of the time, educating- this reader at least- about the fear and reality of HIV not only in the 80s but present day and while the medication has advanced, those early days of the unknown show clearly in the pages.
The dictionary of slang terms is also appreciated and pretty fun to read in its own right.
This is a part of trilogy and I will have to keep that firmly in my mind as I 'grump' at the authors for the way this book ends!

Night Boys No Saints in We All Feel Better in The Dark Kings Cross Trilogy Christopher J Crisp Aubrey Diamant 9781495236372 Books Reviews
I like to start my reviews by stating that I very rarely give five stars to a book. If I do, the book has totally blown me away, either emotionally or intellectually. This book gets a very well deserved 4,5 stars from me. I've followed Diamant's writing career from book one and in my opinion, We All Fell Better In The Dark is their best book so far.
I won't re-tell the story here - after all you are supposed to read the book yourself - but let me tell you that in this book you'll meet vampires and vampire hunters, DJs, clubbers, cross-dressers and a few average gay guys. The story is told from the POV of four of the main characters and is woven together skillfully. We follow those four guys and some of their friends during a very turbulent week of their lives. There is drama, death and destruction but also some humor. What I like most about this book and indeed about the previous two set in the Night Boys world, is the fact that the characters are all real people. They are not those near-perfect hunks (immortal or otherwise) you often get in dark romantic fantasy these days and who, quite frankly, bore me to death. No, Francis and Christy (aka Night Boys, a DJ duo with a sideline in vampire hunting) and Malachy and Kitto (two friends, who happen to be vampires) are all more or less regular guys. They all have their flaws, they can be infuriating and endearing. They make mistakes and have to live with the consequences. Even their romances are not perfect. They have doubts and insecurities, they have rows and break up and all the rest of it.
The story for the most part is set in London. There is a definitive British feel to it which is evoked by a hundred little details, like the mention of British food and the use of slang terms. The authors were even thoughtful enough to add a glossary at the end for those you find themselves puzzled by those British idioms.
If you pick up this book, you're in for a roller-coaster ride, a fast-paced journey full of twists and turns. There's never a dull or boring moment. You'll find yourself on the edge of your seat, holding on tightly, breathlessly turning page after page, wanting to find out what happens next. You'll feel for the characters. Sometimes you may want to slap them or yell at them but they won't leave you cold or indifferent. The end itself is one mean cliffhanger, so let's hope that Diamant will give us the second book in the King's Cross Trilogy soon.
What I also like about this book is the fact that a lot of controversial issues are addressed, but not in a preachy kind of way. Things are presented as real-life issues and it is up to the reader to draw his one conclusions. Things that are discussed include HIV/AIDS, homophobia, violence and discrimination. There are lot's o fun bits and pieces as well, like music references and references to 80s culture and fashion.
Some readers, who happen to be fans of the British band Pet Shop Boys, will get an additional kick out of spotting all the little references to Pet Shop Boys songs. It adds another layer but it's not something that will diminish your enjoyment of the book if you've never heard of PSB before.
I really do recommend this book, especially for reader who are looking for something a little different. Things are not simply black and white in this world, there are lots of shades of grey (and I don't mean this in reference to the books in that series).
This storyline had promise and I wanted to like it, but just didn't deliver. It was just not my kind of read.
This book is so well written and the story line captured me from the very first sentence. I enjoyed reading a different version of what some would call a special kind of vampire story. Kudos to a flawless writing team! Five stars for originality and ability to capture ones imagination and take off flying!
